Check the listing for details. New Custom Curve Design Mandolin Armrest w/Chrome Hardware. Condition: New. Listed at 29.00 USD. If you like the standard armrest/hand rest (I also offer a larger version) for your mandolin, look no further. These handcrafted armrests feature my custom curve and are made of top-quality wood and hardware. The boxwood is perfect for lighter tops like spruce and maple, the padauk wools are amazing with burst and black tops.No other manufacturer offers my custom curve feature! What is a custom curve? This feature removes the annoying and painful 90° angle that you'll find on all other armrests. The idea of an armrest is to not only take your arm or hand off the top but also create a comfortable place for it to reset. My custom curve solves that problem! This armrest features your choice of hardware with cork backing on both hardware and armrest to protect your instrument. Choose from the standard cut, or the new custom curved edge version, with a softer edge (see the last photo). If you typically rest your arm on the edge of the body, then you'll love my new custom curve armrest. The edge of the armrest is hand-sanded and shaped to get rid of the 90° angle, creating a soft curve. This makes it a much more comfortable place for your arm. These measure 3.5" long and 0.77" wide. If you'd like something longer, wider, or a different shape, please let me know and I can make one to fit your mandolin. IMPORTANT-PLEASE MEASURE BEFORE ORDERING- please measure the width of your mandolin before ordering. This will fit if the body depth is AT OR UNDER 1-7/8". I currently do not have any other longer barrel hardware. What Does It Do? They look beautiful, but this armrest should also improve sound quality. A simple test will show what we mean. Place your mandolin on your lap face up and strum it once. Now place a few fingers or your palm on the top and listen carefully, you will hear a dampening of the tone and a bit of the projection. This is because the top is the “soundboard,” it's meant to vibrate to create sound, and the mandolin is very small so there's less surface area to vibrate. Taking your arm off the top will allow the top to vibrate, and move, better so the tone, volume, and projection are all better. Imagine how much the top is muted when your forearm is resting there while playing. With a guitar, testing shows, that with a resting arm, you lose between 15% and 20% of the power and projection! You can only imagine the loss on a smaller mandolin top. Armrest Return Policy If returning an armrest, please be sure to package it well. If you return it in an envelope please make sure it's padded or use thick cardboard to protect the cover. The USPS machines can break it.
