A fine Chippendale maple slant front desk with great color and proportions, featuring a compartmentalized interior, four graduated drawers with period batwing brasses, on a nicely carved bracket base. New England in origin, possibly Newburyport, MA, dating to circa 1790. Good overall condition, with some surface shrinkage cracks, some stickiness to the drawers, minor surface refreshing, and other imperfections and wear commensurate with age and use.
