The numbers zero through 9 have print shapes on them as well as were adapted with equivalent Braille code for them. For matching by a blind child, the same numbers in Braille are placed near the slot for the pieces so that he child can match the one on the piece to the one on the board. This is an additional cue apart from the shape of the piece that fits in its own slot on the puzzle board. The numbers have an "X" sticker at the top for the blind child to orient it properly. All numbers have a tactile drawing of the numbers in print so that even a blind child can quickly feel them with their fingertips and learn how print numbers look like. Many people think that blind kids only need to learn the Braille code, but that is not true. Imagine a Blind teacher teaching little Kindergartners! Also, in the back there is a marker triangle sticker on the top of each number so that the Blind child can correctly orient the piece before feeling the tactile shape.
