Pillar installation assists in accuracy as it prevents crushing of the stock and prevent stress cracks. Pillars also keep the action from twisting or moving. Consistency is key in accuracy. These are just the pillars, they are 1/2'' (.4995) in diameter and made of 6061 aluminum. These pillars are left long so that they can be trimmed to length by the installer, depending on the specific stock that you have. If the pillars are cut too short they will not do their job. This a DIY kit. In order to utilize this kit you must drill out the stock, and "glue" these into place. Final fit and finish will need to be done during installation. A chamfer may be required on the bottom inner diameter of the pillars to allow for action screw fitment. A drill press is recommended. I have other pillars that will fit other actions such as the CZ 455, and Remington 700, mosin nagant. For an additional charge I can profile the outside of the pillars to give the epoxy something to bite in to. You can also do this. I find this unnecessary however, as I have never had an issue with smooth pillars pulling out with quality epoxy use.
