Check the listing for details. Pristine Custom Classic By Jonathan Payne. Condition: Used. Listed at 2500.00 USD. As New Custom Classic By Jonathan Payne Instruments.. This is Model D-1, serial number 001999/D1. Due to old age and arthritis I am selling my guitars. The last to go is my most prized and a very rare beauty. Jonathan is a gifted luthier who made custom guitars in his small shop on the outskirts of Ashville NC. between the mid 90's and early 2000's. He probably made fewer than 20 a year. Unfortunately, financial and other personal issues forced him to find a different career path. When this came on the market I talked to him and learned that this was his show piece that he took to concerts, festivals, and other music venues. The following is taken from his former website: "Impeccable workmanship is evident in every aspect of all models. Wood bindings, bone or ivory nuts and saddles, ebony fingerboards, and wood bridges are all standard. Wood is carefully seasoned and monitored. Different woods possess various attributes that will contribute to specific tonal responses. Woods used at Jonathan Payne Instruments are considered to be the finest obtainable in the world! All models include bound fretboards, and have a 25 and 11/32" fret scale. Fret boards have a taper of 1 3/4 to 2 1/8", and a 14" radius on their face. Backs have a 14' radius and soundboards carry a 25' radius. The neck to body joint is a tapered french dovetail. Finishes are high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. Truss rods are reversible action design and standard tuners are Schaller. " Additional specifications for this instrument: Top: spruce, Back/Sides: rosewood, Neck: 3 pc. Nut and Saddle: believed to be ivory, Nut width:1 9/16". Other dimensions available on request. My wife and I had hopes of learning to play beyond a few simple chords but life got in the way of sufficient practice. We now enjoy our ukuleles daily. Now it's time to start letting go of things. This guitar has lived in (non-smoking) climate controlled environment since we bought it. It is in like new condition. No dings, buckle rash, scars, cracks, or noticeable flaws anywhere. Definitely rare for an instrument of its age. My photos don't do it justice. The pickup was checked out recently by a local luthier and functions as it should. It will be shipped in its TKL World Class case. Since beauty and sound characteristics are in the eyes and ears of the beholder, I won't use the standard adjectives to try to describe it's beauty and voice. It must be seen and played to fully appreciate its rarity. If you are satisfied with mass produced instruments like Martin( over 100,000 made 2014-15), Taylor(over 70,000 made in their 145,00 sq. ft. factory in CA) , Gibson, and many others, this is probably not the right guitar for you. If you want an instrument that can hold its own with McPherson, Larrivee, Sana Cruz and, even Olsen and take pride in a true conversation piece, you owe it to yourself t consider investing in this unique instrument. Now the fine print: Serious inquiries from qualified buyers are encouraged. No returns. This is too rare and valuable to ship around "On approval." I live in Northwest Arkansas and if you are traveling or in the area, we can arrange a meeting for you to check it out. I reserve the right to end this sale at any time for any reason. Free shipping to CONUS only. Additional charge for shipping to Ak or Hi. Sorry, no international shipping.
