RAM X-Grip Yoke Mount for Beech Bonanza, Piper, for All iPad Mini, With or Without Case or Sleeve I have a 1964 "S" model Bonanza, and after a lot of trying, fooling around (and some bad words) this is what I came up with to mount my iPad mini in the airplane. The strap-on base is made of stainless steel, and comes with a rubber sleeve to prevent scratching. It accommodates rails from 2" to 3" in diameter, and they don't have to be perfectly round. This is a RAM piece that was specifically designed for the Bonanza and other applications with a larger, possibly irregular-shaped yoke. Also includes a double-socket swivel arm. Each end rotates through 360 degrees and the center joint allows 270 degrees of adjustment so you can really customize the installation for tilt, elevation, and how far it sticks out. The 1" diameter patented rubber ball and socket system allows almost infinite adjustment while dampening vibration, minimizing wear on your tablet. The X-Grip universal holder is sized for the iPad mini as well as most other 7"-8" tablets and works with or without a case or sleeve. The stainless-steel spring loaded cradle comes with a 1" ball vulcanized to the back that mates with the double-socket swivel arm. Extra grip knobs are located on the back of the fingers of the cradle, allowing for quick and easy insertion and removal of your tablet. The clean, uncluttered design doesn't interfere with ports, switches, etc. Scroll through the photos and you'll see details of how the base goes onto the yoke as well as how I configured the universal joint. Every installation is different, but no matter how you cut it, you probably will wind up blocking your view of something. In my case, I let it block the autopilot switches because at this point (owned the airplane under 2 months & still figuring things out) I'm not using it anyway. The important thing, though, is there's enough adjustment in various directions so that you can make it work.
