The Rhynie Chert is a Devonian Period fossil deposit found in Scotland, which is home to a diverse range of plant fossils. Cut and polished both sides this specimen is approx 8.5 cms across, 1 cms thick and shows cross sections through plant material. From the early Devonian Pragian of Rhynie Aberdeenshire and is 410 Million Years Old. A rare item which of this chert which is famous for containing remains of spiders and earliest known insects. The plants are superbly preserved in thin section and give an insight into the world of the Devonian Period . This is a rare item which we have managed to obtain a limited quantity of, it comes labelled and with a free display stand.
