This is a rare July 2003 program (playbill) from the WORLD PREMIERE engagement of the STEPHEN DOLGINOFF musical "THRILL ME: THE LEOPOLD AND LOEB STORY" presented at the fourth annual Midtown International Theater Festival at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex in New York City. (The production opened July 16th, 2003 for a limited engagement of only six performances.) ..... Based on the true story of Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb, the so-called "thrill killers" who murdered a young boy in Chicago in 1924 in order to commit "the perfect crime", the musical is told in flashbacks, beginning with a 1958 parole hearing. The show premiered in July 2003 at the fourth annual Midtown International Theater Festival in New York City with CHRISTOPHER TOTTEN as "Nathan Leopold" and MATTHEW S. MORRIS as "Richard Loeb" ..... Side note: The first fully staged production was produced by the Emerging Stages Initiative at the Stoneham Theatre outside of Boston from January 20th through 28th, 2005. The York Theatre Company at St. Peter's in New York City staged a three-month run beginning May 26th, 2005. Since the original staging in 2003, the musical has had over 150 productions in sixteen countries and ten languages; and has been performed at regional theatres throughout the U.S. with the composer, STEPHEN DOLGINOFF, appearing as "Leopold" in productions staged in Seattle, Washington and Buffalo, New York .....
