This is a superb beautiful Antique Silver Vesta Case Match Holder.This is an amazing uniquely handcrafted & designed case.There is such precision and artistry that this was definitely by a master.It is also smaller at 3/4 size and may have been commissioned for a lady.This Victorian Vesta bears a Repousse Nautical Waves designed theme.It also has an Aquatic shell & wave applique with place for monogram.The applique tip is actually above the bottom evident when lid is open.The mere fact that it remains & is both intact and undamaged is remarkable.The bottom also has an independently fashioned & applied striker panel.The barrel hinge is both tight & in perfect working condition.Even the seam line was hand ground & finished with light engraving.There is a naturally aged patina we will only polish showroom bright by request.This vesta measures 14 mm thickness, 1&13/16in length and is 1&3/16in width.Another interesting matter is the mixed materials utilized in construction.The case was originally gold washed on the lid & top 1/8 of the case.Traces of this remain both visible and intact.Both the striker and applique are solid sterling silver.The case tests as silver 800 or better.The lid is heavy silver over copper.There is a copper inner liner lip visible when open.There is no evident hallmarking on this gorgeous case.This is such a unique & beautiful case.There are no problems, issues or repairs.It is an estate treasure.
