The A/V signal is uncompressed, which contributes to zero-latency. Point-to-point range is up to 300 meters (1000 feet) over LC fiber optic cable (or as far as your 10 Gb network goes). If that's not far enough, just replace the included multimode GBIC with a single mode fiber interface.
