These handles are new stock and are very suitable for handle replacements on Antique Trunks or newly built Chests--Included in this purchase are the following:Two russett leather straps cut from cowhide 1 1/4" wide by 9" inches long by 5/16" in thickness and very sturdy--Great for the larger trunks-- Four metal strap ends with coat of primer and a finish coat of hammered bronze enamel. Twelve- 1" long cut brass nails to fasten the leather to the trunk. Nails are to be placed three per end under the position of the metal strap ends in a vertical position for best attachment. Form the permanent handle loop to suit before completing the nailing. Sixteen 3/4" split brass tacks to fasten the metal strap ends. The handles measure approx 10 1/2" metal end to metal end with the handle loop but can be shortened by cutting a bit off of the leather strap if required to fit.
