It is very dangerous to attempt to disassemble a clock with the spring wound or even partially wound. This item uses the clock' own key which fits into the slots. It is double sided with two different size slots. (Clock key not included). It can also be used to let down clocks such as alarm clocks where the clock key my not be removable.
