Check the listing for details. Unusual Roman-style handled 15 & 1/4” Badger Plane. Condition: Used. Listed at 43.92 USD. Unusual Roman-style handled 15 & 1/4 Badger Plane. Just under 2 & 1/2" along the cutting edge. Plane is 3" wide. The Mahogany handle is a later user-made addition and I've never seen one like it in my years of dealing tools. This pattern of handle is somewhat reminiscent of the first Roman planes that have been found at archaeological sites. Almost no iron left. Some knocks and scrapes as seen in photos. The plane is stamped Hathersich. George Hathersich and his successors made wood moulding planes at 30 Shade Hill Street Manchester, England, from about 1797 to 1851. After his death his wife Elizabeth carried on making planes. Being a very early plane maker from Manchester, however, we dont know how long Elizabeth continued making planes after her husbands death in 1851. His and or hers planes are sought after by collectors of tools today and are regarded as significant items to be collected in the area of vintage tools Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
