Extremely wide -60F to 600F temperature range due to its molecules are uniform. Stable in the long term. No break down. No separation (ordinary grease will have lighter oil separated. The lighter oil will creep onto aperture blades to cause stuck/sluggish aperture, and will evaporate and condense onto internal glass surfaces to form oil haze). Contains PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) for superb smoothness. When used for helicoids rebuilding, creates the buttery smooth focus action with desirable resistance. This grease has approx NLGI consistency #1. The ordinary greases found at most automotive parts stores are NLGI #2 - too thick for helicoids. Don't use such grease. Additionally if the grease has a strong smell, never use it. Smelling means it is outgassing and that will land on the glass to form haze. Compatible with virtually all materials seen in lens helicoids (aluminum, brass and plastic - yes don't been surprised, many newer and/or entry level lenses have plastic helicoids). Water resistant. While you don't submerge the lens, water does get into helicoids when there is splash, due to the non-sealed design of most manual focus lenses.
