This is a rare autograph. Why, because this man, a lawyer, didn’t get too far up the political ladder so I think his autograph is hard to find. And, I'm not sure if he was just a lonely soldier or a special guest at the USO club, the club always had special people doing something for the soldiers. In 1920 he ran for the Senate from Connecticut on a Socialist Labor ticket and lost. The end! Or that’s all I could find on his political career. Lucy on the other hand, probably knew enough about him to write a book before the 1st dance was over, ha. She had a way with questions and getting the answers to them. The lengthy inscribed autograph is beautifully written and the only thing wrong is that it is not dated but it was written somewhere between the beginning and end of WWII. Now that’s not a brilliant statement but it’s as close as I can get without extensive research on when he was in Spartanburg’s USO club. I Googled him in the Political Graveyard and there is not much there to be found and I don’t have the time to do more research. The USO letterhead is glued to a page from a vintage scrap book page. It is in good vintage condition and measures about 8 ¾ x 5 ½”. There is some slight yellowing of the pulp style paper.
