This vintage Gallant Knight "Chessmen of Champions" set is a collectible item. The set features chess pieces designed in Florentine style. The pieces are made from Tenite, a durable cellulose-based plastic. Manufactured by Kingsway in the 1940's to 50's. The set includes 32 weighted pieces in black and ivory colors. There is green felt on the bottom for smooth gliding across the board. Included is a copyright 1947 instruction booklet. The pieces come in a very nice brown carrying case which does show some wear on the edges and corners. The handle is sturdy and so are the clasps. Each piece has its own dedicated place within the case.
