These very nice collectables have a unique package with purple ceramic, heat sink, and gold caps on both sides. They are new chips 47mm x 47mm from the original package and they are in perfect condition. An early type of Programmable Logic, these are 0.8um CMOS generic sea of gate type devices. They are essentially software programmable hardware. The 160,930 gates could be used to form logic or memory circuits. Programmable logic is a widespread technology today allowing rapid circuit development and modification without millions of dollars invested in custom made chips. Modern chips include many millions of gates and even have large memory blocks and powerful microprocessors all on the chip.
