A collection of vintage sewing thimbles, made from various materials including metal, plastic. Thimbles were historically used to protect the finger when sewing and have also become popular collectibles. The collection features both open-top and closed-end designs. Some are made of metal, while others are early plastic. One pale thimble has text visible on it, which appears to read "Darn Right HOME HEATING". Thimbles were mass-produced starting in the 17th century, evolving from bone and stone to the diverse materials seen here. First metal thimble on left is stamped Germany. 12, 9, 9, 8 are on other metal thimbles.
