Check the listing for details. Vintage Taylor 1 week chart Thermometer Original working condition. Condition: Used. Listed at 350.00 USD. Manufactured by Taylor Instrument Co. of Rochester NY. aka TYCO. This chart thermometer was first put in service in May of 1952 at the Union Pacific railroad in Green River Wyoming. Each week the charts were sent to the main office and the data was compiled for weather analysis. Of course in time, as is all electrical equipment it was replaced with weather stations placed at locations along the rail line. As you can see in the pictures, by the end of it's service we didn't change the charts out too often. I was one of the employees that was responsible for loading the charts and gathering the charts for delivery. Now I am also retired. It was given to me by the boss when the office was closed up and I just don't have a place to put it. Enough about it's history. As stated it is completely operational. Powered by 110v plug and it keeps perfect time. The temperature is recorded by a "stainless steel bulb" sender at the end of a 61ft. stainless steel lead. It can be placed anywhere inside or out, completely weatherproof. The charts read from -40 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit, so this will work almost anywhere. I would not recommend mounting the unit outside, the box is not weatherproof, but the probe can go anywhere. The only thing I have changed is the pen. The original pen is a quill type pen and the ink would be applied with an eye dropper. I can not find the correct ink that is slow drying. Regular ink drys up in the pen. What's included:Complete unit with attached lead and probe60 blank charts(I will give the information to buy more)Instruction booklet with information about the instrument(HANDLE CAREFULLY it IS very OLD)2 quill pens 1 brand new(also information on getting the new style pens) Great conversation piece. You could set it up and put the probe in the pool or on the patio or on the roof.
