Picene Colore - Paste to Colour Varnish Picene Colore' is a classic strain for violin varnishing. This composition colour is available here in a buttery varnish paste ready to use. The principle colourants are terra rosa, cinnabar, calcined dried vine less, plant pigment reseda & plant pigment madder lake. Prepared with the Picene Dry Mixture in single estate cold-pressed linseed oil, to form a buttery paste. This unique blend of pigments gives a warm orange-red colour that will be familiar to most instrument makers. The variety of pigments and particle formats ensures a divergent appearance when mixed into varnish, rather than a flat, homogenous appearance (as could be the case with modern pigments).
