The paint is scraped off alone the edge. Mirror is clean and adjusts properly. Allows the connection of two cameras to a Zeiss trinocular with a male dovetail fitting on top. Switching between cameras is done by operating the lever on the side. This was removed from a Zeiss trinocular model 452914 that was mounted to a Zeiss AxioSkop FS. Item#123116M
