This beautiful medal is a faithful reproduction of the French Legion of Honor National Order, officer grade in silver. It is France’s highest award for military and civil merit. The order was established in 1802 by Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte. The medal measures 38mm wide and 40mm from the top to bottom of the medal. It weighs 14 grams. It is "ready to wear" and comes with the correct red ribbon with rosette denoting the officer grade. It has two mounting pins on the reverse.The front of the five-armed “Maltese Asterisk” (star) has a profile of the emperor in a gold medallion ringed by the words “Napoleon Emp, Des Francais” (Napoleon, emperor of the French). The reverse has the imperial eagle in the center medallion and the motto “Honneur et Patrie (Honor and Fatherland) of the Order.
