I've wanted to offer a service to oboists who are ready to experiment with different brands and shapes for some time. Now you have the opportunity to narrow down what works best for YOU. All cane is double radius gouged on a Ferrillo gouger. A picture of the tools used is shown in the 2nd picture. I'm very picky about which pieces I use: * Radius is tested on a Reeds 'n Stuff radius dial and must be between 10mm and 11mm.* Warped pieces are thrown out - must be VERY straight and lay flat.* Hardness tested on a Reeds 'n Stuff calibrated hardness tester. Cane that is too soft is thrown out.* Middle and sides are measured on each piece. Sides will be ~47mm and center will be 60mm (59 to 61 is tolerated).
