The forward and reverse black plastic buttons could typically be removed with a thin bladed screwdriver. (Black plastic yokes are obsolete). The black yoke and plastic forward and reverse buttons can be lightly lubed and reinserted without breaking the retaining tangs on the buttons. These metal yokes that are the current factory upgrade that will destroy the buttons anytime a removal is attempted.
