A Solid Silver Baroque Heart - Shaped Covered Box An exquisite and exceptionally rare little Baroque heart-shaped box in unmarked high-grade silver. The box features a hinged socket lid that snaps tightly closed and a reeded border around the joining halves. The box is gilt and covered entirely with hand engraved Baroque motifs. It dates to approx. 1780 and is completely without damage or repairs of any kind. This item would have been given by a very well-to-do Baroque gentlemen to his sweetheart as a token of his affections and a sign of his intentions. An almost identical box recently sold in an Austrian auction (2021) for almost 3000 USD. It measures approx 4.5 x 4.5 x 1.5 cm
