Check the listing for details. c. 1879 German 9” Serving Spoon .685 Silver J.Kroll 685S Personalized 52.8g. Listed at 97.95 USD. Fascinating estate sale find. Unable to find a J. Kroll but the 685S is traced to Northern Germany in the mid to late 1800s as .685 Silver was used. Helping to corroborate this is the personalization “DJ d 5 Jan 1879”. We presume the “d” ti mean “dated” or inscribed as opposed to anything else. Spoon is in good shape especially for its age and would be a great addition for any collector of German Silver items. At 9 inches in length and 52.8 grams, it’s definitely to be used as a serving piece at the table. The design work in the front is something we have not been able to match up anywhere else.
