The surface of this sterling silver serving tray is embellished with impressive and rare commemorative engraved decoration incorporating two large portraits of King Edward VII and Princess Alexandra. The surface is further embellished with four engraved scenes of the Royal family homes, in addition to a large central Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom, above the motto "Dieu et mon droit " - God and my right; this is the motto of the Monarch of the United Kingdom. The raised rounded border of this antique silver tray is ornamented with applied gadroon decoration to the rim. This antique silver tray is fitted with a fine pair of cast sterling silver scrolling brackets handles, each featuring a turned painted wood handpiece. The tray is supported by four impressive mound style feet. Condition This antique sterling silver serving tray is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The applied decoration is very sharp and the engraved ornamentation is very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the tray are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
