Austrian Double Inkstand Vienna 1900 Sterling Silver Austrian 800 silver, porcelain and glass double ink stand, made in Vienna c.1890 – 1910. This elegant inkstand features an oval tray with a band of ribbon decorations having an openwork, floral gallery, sitting on four, square cast, beaded and block feet. The silver mounted turquoise porcelain ink wells have their glass inserts. One well has an old crack in the body. The silver mountings are decorated with leaf and berry decorations and the hinged caps have pomegranate finials. There is a well marked, original, silver reflective plate under the glass that gives a mirror-like effect to the glass. The entire inkstand is well marked and in excellent condition, save for the noted crack in the body of one well. Dimensions: Height: 1 ¼” Height to the finial of the inkwell: 3 ¼” Length: 10 ¾” Width: 7 ¼” Maker & Marks: RS in a cartouche, three intertwined rings in an irregular hexagon, and crossed pickaxes in a square denote a good Viennese maker whom I am unable to identify.
