Weighs approx 2lbs and 5 ounces - silver was at approx 19$ an ounce and this is an antique piece which adds value. Thanks to a helpful ebayer here are some more comments about the piece: Hello, You asked for comments, so I thought I'd help. I'm not an "expert" in the field, but seem to know much more than you. So I thought I'd put in a word. First of all, it's German, not Norwegian. The moon and crown is a German mark used after 1886. Although I'm not sure of the exact dates of the use of a "laquer" finish on silver, I've always heard "40s", and I see what looks like it might be remnants of a laquer finish in one of your pics. It was put on pieces to keep them from tarnishing, and when it ages it has a slight yellowish appearance, common on pins and other jewelry in the 40s too. If that's what it is, it is also possible it was added later, but not likely. I had a similarly marked large tray, with similar decoration too. It was a good German maker, but I don't remember the name. I remember when I researched it, there were a couple other makers trying to closely resemble the mark, and one had the same or almost same name too. Silver was at $16.37 at the close on Friday, Item is sold as-is All sales final Look at photos Ask questions No returns No refunds No reserve No international shipping No shipping Local pickup only - Cash !!
