Knight holds the world's speed record for flight in a winged, powered aircraft. As a politician, he is noted as the author of California Proposition 22, which forbade the state from performing or recognizing same-sex marriage. General Conley served at the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. During this time he participated in flight test evaluations of F-100s, F-105s, B-52s and other jet aircraft.
