Falcata Ibérica Bronze Falcata Ibérica Bronze The falcata is a type of white weapon, a steel sword originating in Iberia, and therefore related to the native Iberian populations prior to the Roman conquest. It was widely used among the Iberian peoples, or the celtiberos bordering the former, being the most common sword in the peninsula area. The quality of the iron used for the construction of Hispanic weapons was praised by the Roman chroniclers, who were surprised by their cutting ability and flexibility, one of the most esteemed and sought after characteristics in their manufacture. As a curious note reflecting the effectiveness of these weapons remains the fact that, after the first battles in the Iberian Peninsula, the order was given to the Roman troops to reinforce with iron the edges of their shields, possibly to counter the cutting power of the falcatas, far superior to that of straight swords and sabers. Silver-finished zamak grip with fist handles in imitation ivory, stainless steel blade. Length: 60 cm Weight: 1.5 kg Excellent Iberian Falcata from the Exclusive Historical Swords Collection» manufactured by MARTO.
